I just received the VSL Solo String.
5 compresssion DVD file to just four instruments violin, viola, cello and bass.
DVDs contain banks in 2 formats: Giga and EXS24
for HALion users must translate all this in HALion format. I myself do this from the GIGA format because my EXS24 HALion do not recognize. is long but it works pretty well. (Decompress files on the HDD, and imported into HALion - has at least 3 / 4 hours per pack!) And a ten pack! good night!
Premire impression: it's a mountain of samples, we can always use banks bases (sometimes up to ten Key Swich for custom settings), but it requires a lot of memory ( 2GB seems necessary if we want to keep it under your foot for reverb, compressor VST other instruments ... etc ...)
Quality level .. Sounds top especially for the viola cello and bass attacks with a note and its bow was breathtaking, for the moment against the samples of violins sustain that are a little hard dcevant must vraimment pay attention to the type of joint. Gives a certain articulation rsultat not great with samples not suited.
Of course j'coute ca p'tit pregnant with the mac and / or headphones while shabby recess ... sounds a tiny bit of plastic violins sustain and acute (from C4) must come from ca l.
good as there vraimment tons (of samples), and we look the more we find ... should take the time to vraimment will integrate all the subtleties of samples and understand in which case it sounds.
Remember me as a bit abrviations used for naming files. Wav ca can help.
Nice surprise .. 16/44.1 format is apparently more than enough to render a nickel stamp. Just may be a tiny bit lightweight in dynamic (95dB). but above ca not take up too much space in memory. For now I'm running with the IMAC ca 700 Family (512MB) and I can put a violin, a viola and a cello at the same time each with 4 instruments (Stacato, sustain, sustain, and a piano piz
vraimment on some music is magical.
Only Synfull orchestra had failed me leave a good impression, but it s not play in the same way. I do not know the other banks of violins that level.
Finally overall super pleased.
I will say more when I bought a new machine (ddier music with lots of memory and everything ...
I do not put that 9 / 10 because I have not yet done is the violin sound that I agree sustain
