The VF11 is a vocoder filterbank associated with a 11 bands, all in a 1U rack.
It is therefore not entirely analog editing computer, backup presets and whatnot.
Connections at:
- In line for the carrier (synthesis)
- Line and mic (dynamic) to the modulating signal (analysis)
- Line out
- In line for an unvoiced signal (to help intelligibility)
- Full of knobs to make toy.

UTILIZATION

Usage is very simple:
you put the two inter-modulated signals (typical use is a voice and a synth in modulating carrier)
2 pots let you adjust the input gain (with peak LED handy).
A knob lets you play on the pitch of the internal oscillator (active when nothing is connected to the managed entry summary)
4 knob allows mixing different signals: vocoded sound, modulating, carrier and filter (amplitude modulation).
11 pots let you interact with the gain of the 11 frequency bands that divide the signal.
a knob unvoiced injects white noise (or other external signal) to improve intelligibility when sound like "s", "t", "zz" or "f".
The manual is pretty well done, it also gives a lot of explanations "technical" on the operation and usage examples.

SOUND QUALITY

This vocoder is certainly not one who has the best sound available.
He tends to drool a lot and distort the signals. It is not very specific and will require rich sources of harmonics in order to maintain intelligibility.
But it still has a vocoder grain, dare I say a personality, that plugins can not yet emulate.

OVERALL OPINION

I use the vocoder for nearly 4 years, I knew that the vocoder software before purchasing it and since I could listen to other vocoder (ems2000 and analog lab, another world but also a prize) .
this vocoder, if not perfect, however, has enough quality to that lingers on.
Of course, compare the sound with his illustrious elders enough to send six feet under. For none can compete against the price / quality ratio.
Used for 150 Euros, I would do a thousand times that choice.

UTILIZATION
