Value For Money :
Excellent
My office is small, I needed not too big or too powerful speakers that have the bonus of a neutral response across the entire width of the spectrum. After reading a lot of tests on this material, I chose all new MSP5 at the time (there is a good quizaine years)
SOUNDS
It is clear that given the size of the boomer, the bass is down but still present. The sound is very precise, almost surgical, particularly in the high mids and treble what surprises regulars Hi-Fi channels but we made it very quickly because you can hear everything and it's the most important thing: the speakers monitoring are not made to flatter the ear. In addition, it is possible to perform a little EQ on the bass and treble sliders thanks to two back speakers.
The stereo image is good if you follow the letter of the investment rules.
OVERALL OPINION
So I use them for almost fifteen years and are still brave.
I know very well their qualities and faults and I know when a mix sounds good on my MSP5, it can be sent to mastering.
I also use KRK Rokit6 which are more powerful and have more defined bass, but I often return to Yamaha to check the accuracy and consistency of sound.
At present, there is a huge choice of good quality speakers but Yamaha remain safe values.
Excellent value for money.
