What motivated my choice:
- Much less powerful than my Dynaudio BM5A (too powerful for my small room!)
- Notice quite encourangeants here
- A test at my local dealer (thank you NeoMao)
- The brand and reputation

use: monitoring, mix, and also listen to simple listening to music (vinyl, cd) ...

config: output of my Digi002 Rack Jack, and it returns to the XLR HS50M.

SOUNDS

- Frequency response: good, even better than what I expected considering the price (new € 300 the pair) and the small size ... Obviously it could run out of low, but the vent is in the back, if you calculate out the investment at 40 cm from the wall (the wall is covered with acoustic foam to pin), the low end are just what ' must ... I even stand infrabass ui!

- Stereo: I think the best surprise is there: I have placed in a sort of equilateral triangle with my chair, though inclined to me, and I admit I was really surprised by the report of the stereo .. . it's really detailed and accurate!

- Sound: yeah that's clear, not really colored, but that's what I ask for a clean mix

- Dynamic: it snaps, well done Yamaha!

OVERALL OPINION

I use them for 2 days (no more than 3 to 4 hours each time for now, I have not had much time).
+ what I love: stereo image in detail, I find pretty amazing!
the sound is clear
yamaha logo that lights up when turned on
what I like -: may be the lack of bass, if they are positioned as it should, at 1.50m from the wall ... there must be added the subwoofer, it's obvious ... but if like me they are closer to the wall by managing the acoustic wall, and the direction that gives the monitors, well that's enough!
The fact that they are small enough to rank me low enough, so they are not up to my ears ... I will have to address this problem with feet 30 to 40 cm on the desk to ask ...

I tried the Dynaudio BM5A with whom I worked for 1 year ... sure that it is much less powerful, is less dynamic, but the yamaha defend themselves well in terms of sound quality and stereo rendering. I tested also Tapco (S5 and S8), the M-Audio, Behringer: Look no, those are the yamaha you!

Quality / price ratio: IM-BA-TA-BLE!

I did that for two days, but at that price, and given the rendering quality of these little critters, it's more than obvious that this choice I would do with his eyes closed ...
thank you Yamaha ...
