Dear Fellow Audiofanziners!

http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/Images/stories/2010/sep/socialsound.jpgHere at Audiofanzine we spend alot of time talking about mixing music, but not really about sound mixing- which is more the realm of film making.  Still with the Oscars around the corner, I thought I'd share with you an interesting video I stumbled upon which explores the unique approach to sound mixing in The Social Network.  What was interesting here is that the sound editor did not reduce levels of background noises to make conversations stand out, but just like in real life, he had the actors shouting over loud music to be heard.  While it seems like the film is just collection of fast conversations, there is actually alot of sound and music in the background.  I liked the film personally.  Though at the end I felt like I wasted my college years actually going to classes instead of building websites.  Oh well!

http://extranet.bordasmedia.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/screen_newProfile.jpgThis week we continued our improvements of the Audiofanzine platform by releasing v4.4. of the site.  What's new you ask?

  • Complete redesign of user profiles: more social, more music and more data allowing users to exchange even more. This feature will be completed with the user’s directory coming soon.
  • Possibility to split or merge forum threads for moderators.
  • Framework update.
  • Various bug fixes including better handling of timezones.

On the editorial front, we published our review of the bass combo amp Fender Rumble 150, and from Anderton's clinic:  How to Create Wide Open Mixes and All About Dithering.

Enjoy your WE!
