1st Gen vs 3rd Gen: Difference in sound?

Topic 1st Gen vs 3rd Gen: Difference in sound?
I'm looking at buying a 3rd gen 18i8 to supplement my 1st gen 18i8. I will be using them both for the same recording purposes, just in different locations.

I was wondering--will I hear any difference in sound between a 1st and 3rd gen (such as the preamp)? I plan to use both, but only if there aren't any difference in sound between recording guitar/bass/vocals on 1st gen vs 3rd gen (other than what the room acoustics would provide).

For example, I may be recording a guitar part with my 1st gen one day, and then the next day, continue recording the same part with my 3rd gen.
