Topic Midi Latency Which Way To Go?
Hi, I am currently very confused with conflicting advice about latency can anyone tell me where to spend the money to fix the problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop 2.4Ghz, 512Mb Ram, Technics PX228 Digital Piano. I am currently using the onboard Crystal WDM Audio with a Midiman Uno 1x1 USB Midi interface.

Is the problem likely the GM SW synth and therefore would a new sound card with H/W synth fix this? If so do you know any good PCMCIA or USB solutions? I use Cakewalk express but I do not know if it can use ASIO drivers. I am guessing it would need to in order to minimise latency on any new card?
