Hi,

I am new to this site. I am very glad I found it!!

I am confused as to weather I need to upgrade my soundcard or not just because I am not familar with the high end sound cards capabilities. I am using an SB live with KX mixer (Asio) drivers. I am using only one recording input on the card and using an external mixer to connect 8 external channels. (synths, groove boxes, vocals, samplers)

My only problem is I cannot apply any effects in real time to the seperate channels (my mixer does not have effects). So, I record one channel at a time (mute others using mixer). Then when I have all my channels recorded, I start adding software effects to each.....very cumbersome!!

Will high end sound cards allow me to apply realtime effects (< 2ms latency) to 8 input channels simultaneausly? If yes, Could you please reccomend a card?

Budget: $700
Need atleast one Digital in / out
Prefer 32 midi channels (16 ok...)
Atleast one mic preamp channel
Not worried about mobility

Thanks a bunch guys!
Skimo

ps: my synths do have effects, but not the most important one..compression!!!
