«  Good compressor but a bit light »

Published on 05/06/12 at 16:03
Compressor / Booster.

Effects not editable. Format not rackable.

Analog effect.

An input jack, an output, a standard 9V power supply input.

A red LED demonstrates the working condition of the pedal and its intensity indicates how strongly the pedal pad ... it was still seen as a better indicator of compression ...

UTILIZATION

Configuration could not be more simple: a knob for the compression ratio, a volume knob, a 3 position switch (normal, MULTICOMP, tubesim) and two in the pedal trimpot to adjust the compression ratio of bass and treble frequencies Mode MULTICOMP.

Manual clear and sufficient, and we want to find the compression is easy given the available settings (finally saw the few parameters to adjust, should not be demanding).

SOUND QUALITY

Compression is as I wanted: transparent, I put compression to 13h and 11h to the volume in Normal and roll! I never change these settings and the pedal is always enabled. It allows me to cut too big peaks in my attack, enhance harmonics, ghost notes, tapping game, etc. ... and increase my sustain while maintaining the personality and the sound of my bass.
The compression ratio is still low at its maximum (5:1), so farewell large cuts and efficient limitation of the largest peaks, and the lack of fishing settings a bit when one wants to regain his.

I use it with a Fender Precision U.S. Standard V.

It clarifies my sound without coloring it, brilliantly I must say, I can not do without it and is still active.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for about 6 months. In the studio I used a MarkBass Compressore which has a different style: the lamp colors the sound, there are many more compression under foot and we have all the necessary adjustments to a pro compressor (attack, release, etc. .. .). I still prefer the Multicomp: more neutral in its treatment and yet very effective and no-brainer.

The only thing that pulls down what is a low compression ratio, too just to take one game a bit violent.

The value for money is altogether honorable, what choice I would do without hesitation.
