EDIT:
Attention!! This amp HAS NO EFFECTS LOOP, I can allow myself to say out loud because I have even tried plugging in pedals and got nowhere. Let me explain:

Excerpts from the manual:

"POWER AMP IN: This jack accepts a signal to Be Sent to The Power amp and SLAVE OUT jack. Using this jack breaks From The Signal The Path That Was Present at the PREAMP OUT jack. This Can Be Used as a post-master patch point ".

it says that when you plug the jack into the input "power amp in", we cut the output signal "preamp out", so far it confirms once more that the preamp out and power amp in NOT EFFECTS LOOP,

So if you plug something into the power amp in, preamp out the switches off.

Moreover, the only time I tried to put a purpose in what I believed to be wrong an effects loop, first no sound came within the effect because the "power amp in" was connected and thus disables the "preamp out", and secondly, when I pressed the footswitch I got a big plop into the amp! And yes! As this is not an effects loop the sound is not treated and goes directly into the power amp, which constantly sends 300 watts (from a tube power amp operates in constant power and that it does not handle the volume with the gain and master, the master is a preamp gain in the end, moreover it's called peavey in post-gain "on guitar tube amps). So the little clicking noise becomes a big CLIQUEUHHHHH we hear very well, although it bore the mix!

So all the effects (if one puts) are connected before the amp!

UTILIZATION

The configuration could not be easier, gain-bass-midrange-treble mirfreq-master-ultra-ultra low hi
The manual is quite clear, it gives examples of highly interesting settings, which are a sort of base.
Whatever the setting we have a killer sound when the bass played into the road. All this amp already noon tampers with a lot of other brands.

Edit: Try these settings 2pro SVT, the SVT VR, the SVT 4PRO finally rummage manuals big amps ampeg, look at the frequency of action of knobs and try! Again have a good sound is easy, have a seriously rotten is extremely difficult. Whatever the setting the sound is good. All sounds are possible as long as we do not want to sound cool!
To tell you I even tried "random settings" turning a blind eye and doing anything with the knobs (except gain and master if we finished deaf) bah spend all sounds (finger into play at least) the only setting that I found really bad is when you completely cut 200Hz, the sound is poor.

SOUNDS

This amp fits perfectly with what I play, ie: metal, rock, funk, reggae, blues.
The sound is quite heavy, it is bold, vintage, this is not an ultra clear, the bass is very powerful compared the SVT 3 Pro is an amateur in bass. on the other hand should not ask him to have a crystal clear crystal clear, it is not its radius. We can slap and have a sound crazy, but must not seek or style SWR TecAmp (normal you may say, no one buys AMPEG to SWR or TecAmp). So for slapeurs absolutely crazy to try before you buy, the slap goes well but must love the grain in slap ampeg.
I play it with a bass warwick corvette $ $ 5 string, the sound is really great! I change the sound by changing the combinations of coils and pickup balance, and fiddling with the active preamp switchable bass.
The manual settings are nice, but as said above, I do not hesitate to watch those of other Ampeg heads.
I pumped back to rock rock setting of the SVT 2PRO, it is perfect, I adapt as necessary for the slap.
Otherwise sometimes I also picnic setting "Jaco" to the SVT 4PRO.
For metal I use a setting very aggressive with big bass (plus the ultra low on), cutting the 450 Hz, 3.2kHz and boosting the amount the 5kHz to 3 / 4 view has merits. (No Ultra Hi initiated and tweeter baffle cut) with highs of my bass at the bottom. I sound Canibal Corpse Alex Webster And that makes him hard on the metal! You mean well, and you have a real role that goes beyond being an extension in the bass guitar, because you make grunting in high mids that the guitars can not do, and everyone hears exactly what you play both the musicians that the public (who for once in metal point your game without you having had the needs of passages dedicated to "hey hears this sound crazy?"
I played this amp with a 410 Warwick, the sound is really great, quick with the 610 ampeg a friend, showing her super huge, and now I can play it on my Ampeg 410HLF, and there is the slap!! To play this head with a 5 cord there is no better speaker, and yes it is the only speaker who goes down to 28Hz AMPEG!!
Sound killer simply, I stayed bay mouth, I finally discovered what really SVT CLASSIC!
The rest of the top 810 on the head which I tried in stores even if it descends so low frequency that it has its legendary Ampeg more than any other speaker, but I have stairs ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 months, I had some small problems of power tube, I've changed and I properly set the bias properly and I had to put a sheet of foam between the flight case head and the baffle to avoid microphonics (I had the microphone as a speaker and a warwick 411 pro ampeg 410 HLF, the 610 ampeg no microphonics as it descends in the least serious, no doubt)
I was amused to replace the original Sovtek in V1 by a JJ / Tesla ECC83, and there is the large class, the sound is warm wishes.
Before having this head had a head on which I plugged warwick an EBS valve drive coupled to a boss and a BBE Sonic GEB7 to maximize the ringing lamp, but it has good light years from that day 'have it now.
I sold all my belongings that I kept my first bass (huge emotional value), my warwick, the amp head and cabinet. And I just all the sounds I'm looking for, the sound is really incredible and we did not adjust to 36,000 tips! More questions pollute by sound effects except maybe a DBX compressor rack if it is considered as an effect.
What I like most about this amp is that is all-tube, and has a master and a 5 position switch for midrange frequencies unlike the SVT VR.
SVT 2pro I liked too, but given the overheating problems it faces, I preferred to ensure taking the SVT Classic.
And also something silly, but, I love the "furniture" of the SVT Classic is not like the pro series or the amps are rackent amps sound like, there was the feeling of having a real amp scratch and not like the feeling of having taxed the amps in the sound:).
What I like least is the weight (40kg) without it really bothers me not because I'm tough and there jeune.Au least you can say "hmm it's solid" recess is an anvil this amp:).
I bought used for Euro 1340, I was fine because fears-that I did not know too much tube amp so any fishy thing I saw the price in stress, but I 've learned to adjust the bias (pulvo thank you:)) and I learned to guard against microphonics. This amp gives off a feeling of strength, I think it will last me a long time, apart from the lamps to be changed after a while. I do it again without hesitation that choice so the sound is excellent for what I play!
