explosive noise

without no warning suddenly the efx led on both fx goes up to top (red) and i get like explosive noise on the speakers , when i'm turning the fx volume down it stops ' and after 10 minutes it comes back . what can be the problem ? this is my second 2442fx that i have the same problem !!!!
if there is a short in the wires or speakers ,why does it stops when i turn off the effect ?
