Devil-Loc Deluxe is based on the Shure Level-Loc* leveling amp, but adds features designed to expand the capabilities beyond the original hardware.
“Devil-Loc Deluxe takes the characteristic heavy compression and distorted sound of the vintage hardware (known for creating gigantic sounding drums) and gives the user far more control and flexibility, ” SoundToys say. “With the ”Darkness" control high frequencies can be attenuated to create thick pumping compressed tracks."
The “Mix” control lets users adjust between the processed and dry sound, which is designed to eliminate the need for complex bussing or routing to achieve parallel compression style mixing inside the plug-in. This is designed to let users balance the right amount of the Devil-Loc sound with the original. There is also a switchable release time designed for a faster response that was not available on the original hardware, to give users more musical control of the timing for instruments other than drums.
