The OP–XY is such a great little synth/groovebox. Super intuitive, you don’t need to be a music theory wizard or a hardcore synth nerd to get into it. If you know the basics it definitely helps, but honestly, you can just jump in and start making patterns right away.
The sounds are really nice, it’s super flexible, has some crazy fun performance effects, and the build quality is top notch (the chassis is aluminum). Battery lasts a long time too. For me it’s kind of a genius device — insanely portable, and since it’s not just a synth but also a sampler, it’s like a Swiss army knife that covers everything: drums, harmonies, melodies, bass… you could literally make full albums on this thing. Projects are easy to save, and each one can hold tons of patterns you can chain together in song mode.
Bottom line: Teenage Engineering really nailed it with this one.
