It's a double DX7 with 76 keys. The controllers standard pitch bend, modulation, breath, sustain, portamento in facade (super).
Level connectivity: three mono output, with a DX7 and a mixed. The DX5 as DX1 benefits XLS output and more balanced. Can connect the pedal, sustain, volume.
The DX5 DX7 is really two separate, there are thus two times 32 sound => 64 in single mode.
No multi-effects.
The polyphony is 32 voices in single, dual 16 in 16 and twice in split

UTILIZATION

This synth is quite complicated to handle. To edit sounds, it's like the DX7, very galley. The manual is not really top. It is difficult information.
You have more that there are two dedant DX7 and you have to think that when we make a manip on they are not on the other. For example, if you pay off the local noon on DXA, it will do the DXB.
For editing, we must fall back on a program like DX Manager or Sound Diver etc ...
Again, gaps remain because these programs do not know the DX5 and DX1 tellements rare.
I have not found a program to edit the performance of DX5. Edition manual and sysex backup in a sequencer.

SOUNDS

The sounds are suitable for all styles of music because if you find a more versatile keyboard ... DX
I put 10 because I love the sounds of the 80s. And DX5 has sounds very rich and péchus dual mode.
It's like the JX10P with JX8P

OVERALL OPINION

I use DX for quite some time. These machines are super strong and proof there are still a lot for sale. DX5 my 20 years! And not a wrinkle! Always on top.
We must make sure a multi-effect behind in order to at least have a chorus and reverb.
Now with FM7, it was almost the same sounds. A little less dynamic. Not the same grain.
But it's so good to play on such a machine.
The price / quality ratio is hard to give. It should already find a DX5 for sale. The DX1 is the top, the same sound with a super interface. The TX816 is not bad either ...
If I had the choice again, yes!
