« Friendly, powerful, versatile »
Published on 07/20/10 at 08:07* What characteristics have motivated your choice?
Originally, I gained 3 VirtualDJ Pro upgrade from VirtualDJ 3 DJC that came with my DJ Console Mk2 and 3 Pro License VirtualDJ gave me free access to the following versions: 4 Pro VDJ, VDJ 5 Pro, VDJ 6 Pro.
Today, I use VirtualDJ Pro 6 with all controllers DJ, because it is simple, stable and powerful.
With which instruments or systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) and you use the connection with what?
I used Pro with VirtualDJ 3 DJ Console Mk2 Hercules, I then spent 4 Pro VirtualDJ, VirtualDJ 5 Pro and then with the VCI 100, the DJ Console Rmx and Omni Control, and then I used the same controllers with VirtualDJ Pro 6.
Since VirtualDJ Pro 6, I also use the Pioneer CDJ 400 as a USB controller.
For what purpose?
The main use of VirtualDJ Pro is to mix in the evenings.
What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Disk ,...)?
I have 3 typical configurations:
- MacBook (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz / 2 GB RAM / Mac OS 10.5.8), for mobile use in the evening
- A desktop PC, I changed it recently to prepare mixes (HP Pavilion Intel Core p6355fr-i3-530 2.93GHz / 6GB RAM / Windows 7 64-bit)
- A tiny laptop backup (Dell Latitide 610 / Pentium 3 1 GHz / 1 GB RAM / Windows XP SP2) Backup evening
- Supervisors and DJ (DJ Console Rmx mainly).
GETTING STARTED
* The installation is done it without problems?
Installation is easy, flexible Windows and Mac OS.
The general configuration is easy?
Yes, really.
Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
Not yet.
The manual is clear and sufficient?
The user manual (pdf) is sufficient for mixing.
A handbook on VDJscript to create maps of Supervisors, failed to date, we have to do with the site information https://www.VirtualDJ.com.
SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE
* What is the configuration of your computer? (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Disk / sound card ..) and the software does it correctly on this configuration?
With my MacBook (Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz / 2 GB RAM Mac OS) and turn my PC (2.93 GHz Core i3 / 6 GB of RAM running Windows 7 64-bit), VirtualDJ VirtualDJ 5 Pro and Pro 6 are stable and fast.
My old Dell Lattitude 610 Pentium 3 1GHz (1GB RAM / Windows XP) is too slow for VirtualDJ VirtualDJ 5 Pro and 6 Pro, I use VirtualDJ Pro 4.
* What performance? (If quantifiable)
On a PC with 2 GB of RAM, it has very short response time for sound mixer (2ms latency).
To mix video, better to have a more robust graphics card (Geforce or Radeon, but not the Intel integrated graphics).
* This software + hardware is stable?
Yes, VirtualDJ is very stable.
OVERALL OPINION
* For how long have you been using it?
VirtualDJ Pro I use for 5 years at least 3 times a week.
* What thing do you like most/least about it?
What I like most is the simplicity of use, friendly graphical interface where the names of the songs are written in bulk.
What I like least is the menu map for the controllers, too complicated and not sufficiently documented.
* Did you try many other models before getting this one?
I also use other DJ software such as Traktor, MixVibes, DJay, Live djDecks, DJ-1800, UltraMixer, but none as often as VirtualDJ.
* What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Having acquired for 100 euros upgrade to VirtualDJ VirtualDJ 3 DJC 3 Pro and then got a free upgrade to VirtualDJ Pro 3 to 4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6 was free, it is a unbeatable value for money equivalent to 25 euros per software.
* Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...
Yes, without hesitation, especially since the forum VirtualDJ is excellent.
