Can you put the beats from the xr-20 on your pc to record vocals over? like can i get it into fl studio?

I just bought my akai xr 20 and the lcd lights up blue and turns on fine. but when I try to select a pattern nothing shows up in the lcd. Ive pushed every button and nothing seems to show up in the lcd display for that matter! what am I doing wrong? I have the manuals but they do not have a troubleshooting guide. any help would be greatly appreciated
