« Fender Precision Bass »
Published on 01/11/03 at 15:00I play double bass in the worship band in my church, and I wanted to get a bass guitar. Everyone I talked to said Fender. I borrowed a Deluxe Jazz Bass from my friend, and loved it. So I went to my local guitar center one day and picked up a Precision. I got it for $350, and I also bought a black pearl pickgaurd with it (which looks exellent on the black bass) for $50.
I've had this bass for about 3 months, and I love it. Fender basses are known for they're tone and ability to play all different types of music. The sound is excellent whether I'm playing rock, to jazz, to country or anything Its tone is perfect. I like the split pickup, and the way it feels in your hands. Also, I like the Fender headstock.
There are only a couple things I don't like. For one, its a pretty heavy bass and can give your shoulder an ache after awhile. And the bridge, or shall I say the bent piece of metal Fender tries to pass as a bridge, Is only so-so. There are only 20 frets, but then again, isn't the point of a bass to make a low powerful sound? So that doesnt really bug me that much.
The quality is great. No damage or marks at all. There is almost no buzzing in the frets, Only when you play at the very back or the space betwenn the frets. The neck is put on securly and the tuners dont slip at all.
I think its one of the best basses you can get as a beginner-intermediate player. If you are very experienced you might want to get a better bass but this is an overall great bass. Many more pros than cons.
