8 / 10 from the release date:

UTILIZATION

Complicated!
Tons of SET with lots of parameters that effect by a sEvent not much. They are trs (trop!) prcis: most settings are made on a scale of 100 with a step untaire. Sub menus has no end that prevents it from settling effects simultaneously.
Make an effect is a mission, there are always problems of equalization (knowing that many effects of demand response rates in several frequency bands which represents an additional equalization for each effect) so this gallery. The manual is complete and trs trs explains well the principle (which is not be complicated but it is not he who will tell us how to edit effects.
In fact the use of the device is quite simple but effective editing is a nightmare.

SOUND QUALITY

Ben numerical What! So many ups and downs ... especially since the beast is out there about ten years so the not so good with Digital Sample Rate good bass and a certain coldness to certain effects. The compressor and chorus are good but without all the modulation effects (phaser, flanger, wah wah, tremolo ...) create a blast that we enttend without playing, but it goes further. The phaser, flanger, harmonizer make noise bursts, the predominant effect even with settings too LIGHT. The reverb breath, the delays are so unnatural, it has more noise than an exact reproduction of sound in the echo. I do not use the speaker simulator that color the sound too (in the bad sense). However, the effects are good preamp and gives a little life and expressiveness the processor (on an amp transistors, at the same time this will be a shame to use an amp on lamps GX700). For cons, I find the distos surprisingly good (when they are equalization).
Simpa is to possess the totality of existing effects and fun with lots of effects but it is not eccentric IDAL if you really want sound quality. But having said all the effects are still usable.

OVERALL OPINION

I have been there over a year and a half. I have had time to assimilate and yet I still can not edit a corect effects so I am content to preset already programmed. It allowed me to make my debut and I must say that the amount of effects available simultaneously and is unlimited. It's good value but not the large multi purpose. A great machine for the time in digital but it has many old.
I'll buy a boss ME-50 which only effects and not amp simulation, strings, picks and gods knows what else and who has only pottards (no menus). That in addition to having taken a step in terms of digital effects remains an analog part (of APRS I'm told) but is in any case much better quality.

UTILIZATION

I am working stream configuration trs simple. We quickly found the sound you need. There may be many paramtres for some effects, but not everyone is a useful key to approach a sound that is sought.

SOUND QUALITY

I find the sound qulit trs good, some say non-transparency effects, I do not see exactly what cell means. Effect is not really the not to be transparent (but has still my opinion). In short, the GX700 does its job properly.

I use mainly the compressor / limiter, speaker simulation, the equalizer, flanger and phaser (a little chorus) and delay. Cel suits me perfectly. I love the sound.

OVERALL OPINION

Rcemment bought for 150 euros, I did not repeat it. This multi effect is very practical, compact, versatile trs, trs cheap, it includes all the effects in a small boss at boti. I do not think Sparer me by a good time.

I do not use more but I used it for 3 years. I lost the transformer. Unable to deliver hands on it. If anyone has one ...

1U multi-effects including: compressor, wah, distortion, preamp, effects loop, EQ, amp simulator, noise suppressor, modulation (phaser, flanger + delusions like ring modulator, humanizer), delay, chorus, tremolo / pan , reverb. The effects can be put in any order (very daring for its time!) But always in series.

It is set in all directions, edited on PC. Digital converters with 44.1 kHz (16 times oversampling) in 18-bit, impressive numbers at its output 15 years ago, a little weak people today.

Connectors: two inputs (one at a time, the input AR is rapidly broken down on many devices), stereo outputs, effects loop, the three classic twelve o'clock (in, out and through), and expression pedal jack to two controls (fs5u style).

UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, the manual is also well done for. Editing effects is natural.

The screen is very readable and comprehensive.

SOUND QUALITY

The converters are now just dropped, it's still not bad breath. The sound quality is good effects but not excellent. On a positive note its distos sound really not bad for the transistor. One recognizes the grain Boss. It sounded more to the hard typed 70 80, for the well rounded and warm blues or large metal modern hi gain (for that, sorry, needed lamps ...)

OVERALL OPINION

I bought the GX to its release and I found it wonderful for years, including a cut above the POD (or at least the first). But one day, by upgrading my set I replaced with a GFORCE and there I became much more critical of him! But hey it's not the same budget.

I used the GX 700 for 12 years without failure. Over time, competition has certainly caught up, but it's still in my opinion a good multi-effects, not ridiculous at all. To play in bars and acoustic say "approximate" is more than enough.

I typed the Satus BOSS, a little less reverb and delay (since I tasted those of TC, obviously) but it's still perfectly fine.

The value for money in is an excellent opportunity, so I do not claim mine, although I do not use practically because for me it is significantly under-side. Finally, if you're broke, go for it on this box! (For cons, will provide a roadie or a MIDI pedal to the scene.)

Very easy to edit, friendlier than some newer products.

The chaining effect in my opinion is incidental.

SOUND QUALITY

Used in a rather metal age at the time and plugged into the clean channel of a Marshall tube head or tampered with while on a Peavy Bandit 112, the popping sound of the GX700 was preferred to that of a Dual Rectifier for recording a demo!

It seduces and still will seduce lovers of synthetic sounds, clear and precise (I cab refer you to my old band's SWATT myspace for a sound demo).

The EQ is a bit limited but sufficient, some effects are a little gadget (the ring modulator and the "ya-ya/yo-yo") and the Wha Wha is very good when it is disabled.

The usage of an HP Simulator via a direct connection to a sound card does not convince me (not to say that it's a disaster either).
Remember that the GX700 has not been designed for home studio use.

OVERALL OPINION

After more than 10 years of use in live and rehearsal studios, my GX700 has retired.
I replaced it because of its very low use in home studio.

Swiss army knife, the GX700 has nothing to envy (except speaker simulation) from some newer products, especially as we find that today for little dough.

1 Front Input Volume Control, 1 in back, 2 outputs with adjustable volume on the back, 1 pedal xp, pedal 1/2, 1 send/return. All this in jack. 3 midi: in-out-through. And a headphone mini-jack on the front.

To insert into a chain, a stereo input would have been helpful.

UTILIZATION

For the time, very complete, but compared to what is done today, too easy!

SOUND QUALITY

I've had it since its release, and I bought 2 second hand in recent years. It goes into a power amp MesaBoogie (the Fifty or the Ninety) and the MesaBoogie baffles, and frankly, passing a little time to adjust patches, no one ever told me: "ugh, you got a Boss sound! ". Except for its clean sound where you have to really settle ...

OVERALL OPINION

I've had 3, I think that sums up my opinion! It knows how to do everything, including 3-voice harmonizer, although I confess that the grain of the voice created is not realistic, but it can have its charm. Today it is outdated, but at the second hand price, it can be a great multi-effect to try your hand and ear!.

Most effects are available (chorus, delay, reverb, compressor, noise gate, EQ, wah ... etc) as fairly good quality without being transcendent. The technology used is digital hence the coldness and the slurriness when it accumulates too many effects. Editing is not too boring but we've seen better. There is a PC application to set my stuff but I never got it to work. Otherwise the connection is complete, works very well with the controller Behringer FCB1010

UTILIZATION

The setup is a little involved but spending a little time, one quickly masters the craft.  Watch out- too many effects will kills the effect, if abused, the sound becomes murky, distant and flat.

SOUND QUALITY

The effects are not too bad but it tends to age badly, the GX 700 has over 10 years and we have better products since. It was also the cold side and digital brand, we can obtain correct results but we must spend time to test all combinations and interactions between them. I use it in the loop of my preamp in small doses and the result satisfies me.

The good effects:
chorus, delay, compressor, noise gate, EQ

The bad effects:
distortion, wah, reverb, preamp to simulation, the HP simulation (ridiculous), the effects on the con (ring modulator, humanizer and other delusions in this genre)

OVERALL OPINION

I have uses it for over 10 years, and not being a big user of effects, it is enough for what I did. The advantage is that it offers in a rack 1U all that is done both for the gain effects and the modulation effects. We also have a programmable loop, handy if you want to insert an external preamp in the chain (which can change the order). The value for money is good considering the price of the equipment secondhand. Okay if you just want to add a little effect, to avoid if you are picky about quality.

It's digital, but: the preamps are very good, the delay is great very vintage, are distortions sound good, everything is correct, with many parameters ...
You must spend some time searching your sound, but you get it there and is not bad at all!
I also had a GT-5 that I gave to some youths unusable and unmarketable because, it would be a steal, it's worthless! cardboard effects,
I had the line6 very cold! a tc nova system, horrible! I did a concert and a session with it and then resold quickly!

the only multi effect that would be its replacement is the gt-pro ...
good but expensive and hard to find today ...
its only weakness comes as all the racks come from transformer boss, almost untraceable, which aged faster than the rack!
