Former owner of a card ISIS (I'm pulling his own hair so I have more) I recently invested in new Hercules 16/12 FW. I was looking for a card with a sufficient number of to save battery and I found my happiness.
I use the Hercules card to record rock bands to make DMOS. Dj I used to record drums, acoustic guitar, singing. I use cable or XLR jack with and without power fantme.

Motherboard ASUS
AMD Athlon XP 2800 +
500 MB DDR400 memory
160 GB SDMA
Graphics card MATROX Dualscreen connects two notches
Firewire card

UTILIZATION
Installation is simply trs. The Hercules connects the computer thanks to the Firewire port. As I had no Firewire port, I d buy one (17 in stores).
In Windows XP I had no difficulty in installation. It is fair to light ncessaire the rack before the computer or it is not recognized.
The configuration is fairly clear and Submitted as a mixer with Inputs, Outputs and Monitors on each of which can be adapted according to the custom settings impdance microphones and instruments connected to the rack.
GETTING STARTED
In terms of drivers of it exists only one version for now. It is too to see if tt rgulirement be updated. But they seem stable trs.
I used the card with the following software:
- Sonic Foundry Acid DJ
- Sonic Foundry Soundforge.
- Steinberg Cubase VST32
- Steinberg Groove Agent
I get a latency of only 15ms (a change me from the ISIS). But in terms of number of tracks read I am not at all del 22. And if I use too many effects on these tracks, it's my PC that does not follow (see config above). At the simultaneous recording I tried with seven tracks simultaneously ... no problem.
I had some minor crashes with Cubase. But I think they are more than my PC that the card itself.
OVERALL OPINION
I use this rack for 1 month and I'm not.
What I like:

The connection is on port FireWire (extremely easy to install).
The latency of just 1.5ms ASIO2 is.
The two front connectors (between 11 and 12) can receive or XLR jack and the pots possdent volume and power for condenser microphones fantme.
The prsence a headphone jack on the front (enough amplified) with a knob volume is also a big advantage.
The absence of noise.
The possibility of rack mount 19''

What I dislike:

Many entries are the rear of Hercules which is not always very practical when the card is put into a 19''rack. You can also add that it is going through a ncessaire prampli for inputs rear of the rack if the recording level is really low.
