no sound when i play back midi

Hi im having a problem with my sequencer
when i play back audio that is in cubase it comes throught my desk perfect but when i play back
midi i get nothing no soud but i get audio any would be most welcome thanks.

i only get 2 options
microsoft gs wavetable sw synth
mpu-401 at the moment its on the first one

You don't have any virtual instruments installed?

If you're using the MS wave synth, you have to make sure that you have windows set up to play that back. Double click on the speaker icon in the system tray and make sure that "sw synth" is showing, un-muted, and turned up.

Iv got some virtual instument installed but i get no sound when i play back any midi even if im in rewire mode with reason

the midi will play back through my speakers but not through my desk
