TopicPosted on 05/15/2006 at 11:08:53Help Please, I'm New To Recording!!??
Hi There,
I'm completely new to this home recording thing and i'm just looking for advice. Mainly i have acoustic intruments (guitar, mandolin, banjo, dulcimer) and i just want to record some songs, prefereably outside (now its sunny) because i quite like a bit of background noise like birds and stuff. I've been looking at the Boss BR900CD Digital Recorder with CD Drive (have a look at: http://www.andertonsonline.co.uk/acatalog/info%5fBR900CD%2ehtml) and maybe a good mic to go with it (any suggestions as to a good mic, would be helpful). Will that work? Will the recording quality be ok? Got any advice? Just any help or advice you have would be gratefully recieved.
Thanks so much
Rosey

There are plenty of portable recorders on the market, if you want to record outside then don't use a condensor mic as you will pick up a lot more then birds, these mics are too sensitive. Trouble is, condensors are probably best for recording Acoustic instruments. Maybe try a sure SM58.
