1 What size hard drive should i get?
i am just starting out with a pro tools mbox w LE 7. I need to get an external firewire drive. The guy who is going to give me some training said that I should get one about 120GB and that going bigger was not really a good thing to do. That puzzles me because a 160GB LaCie is about $150 but I can get a 300GB LaCie for about $199. It just seems dumb not to double the size of my storage for a mere $50. Please let me know what you guys think. Also, what is the best choice brand.

Thanks fellas

depends on the drive performance. check the specs like RPM, transfer rate etc...
personally i prefere external sata drives.

I think you'll find in his reasoning that if you are going to use a hard drive for a scratch disk Anything above 160g may slow the drive in terms of seek time... This may cause stuttering in your audio...

However, ra7or has a good point.... I too like the newer SATA Drives as well...
They provide fast seek times and are near comparable to SCSI drives...
You can buy storage on them for pennies on the dollar and there seek times work well with audio...

Hope this helps....
