Topic need help with basic recording
hey there, im in a band and were thinkin bout starting to do some minor recordings, id like to set up some recording equiptment and not sure were to start, i use mac OSX and Digital Performer 5, just wonding what i need to buy to maybe record 3 or 4 tracks at the same time, i dont need anything really fancy or anything just basic recording gear.

you need either a new soundcard with multi ins or an external USB or firewire device with multi-ins. an "M-box" does this for some programs. either way its gunna be fairly expensive. another way to do it is record everyone at once then do indivdual parts one at a time over it. then delete the original track.
