Hello all. I'm new to this forum and am glad I found this wealth of information.
Does anyone know where I can find a "quick reference" guide of various compressor settings? I'm looking for something which will put me in the ballpark for vocals, guitar, bass, overal mixes, etc. Thanks for any help.

There's a little table at the bottom of this page
http://www.thewhippinpost.co.uk/mixing-music/compression-audio-mixing.htm
that gives you a quick-reference to various instruments etc.
This page is also quite good for explaining the rudiments
