you should be able to connect the tape player/recorder to the line in on your sound card to get it onto your computer. From there you can burn it to a cd.

You can also burn directly to a standalone CDRW deck like a Tascam which takes analog RCA input. My wife uses my on site recording system to record tapes by pluging the tape RCA out into the instrument input of my stereo preamp which is connected to a Tascam CDRW deck!

How many tracks is the tape ?
If it's more than 2 (stereo) you'll need a multiple-input device like the Edirol FA-101

the way i have it set up is i have my mixer (https://www.zzounds.com/item--BEHUB802) running into a JVC KD-D10 cassette deck (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6583643430&category=932) which is in turn running into a JVC A-K10 stereo amplifie (http://cgi.ebay.fr/Ampli-JVC-A-K10-stereo-amplifier-no-technics-marantz_W0QQitemZ5830162458QQcategoryZ93380QQcmdZViewItem). The mixer runs out of the main outs with patchcords into the two left and right mic inputs on the cassette deck. Right now it's only one track, i think, if my understanding of "tracks" is correct. now i have another question, if i wanted to upgrade my cassette player/recorder, what would you all suggest? lets say in the price range of about $100 to $250.
