Live software effects possible?

Hello all,

I am new to this site. Is it possible to have 8 recording channels with live software effects on each (0 latency?). I am trying to setup a new studio. What sound cards should I look at to be able to do this?

There's no such thing as zero latency when processing thru a pc/software combination, sorry. The best I've seen was in the range of about 5 milliseconds, and that was thru a Pro Tools system.

If you really need zero latency, the best you can do is go thru an analog mixer, pass thru analog effects into an analog multitrack.
