Thread Need Info on Avance AC97 Sound Card

Was experiencing some problems with Shockwave programs and their tech support suggested I get the latest DirectX which I did, and also to check on the latest driver for my sound card. Seems I have an Avance AC97 and not sure if they are even in business anymore. Anyone know if there is a "latest driver" for this card? If so, where would I find it? Thanks in advance for the help.

I just plugged in "ac97 driver" into google and came up with lots of sites.

AC97 is a codec. Avance is your phy layer. I assume this onboard. You need to get an addin/external soundcard for recording with. The only onboard sound device was SoundStorm.
