Hi, I'm new to all of this. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction regarding what to get and what programs are best for a newbie. I want to egt into producing hip-hop beats and have no clue where to begin or what programs are best etc. After I become pretty good with beats I have people who i would like to record over the beats, so a program that allows me to make the beats and record vocals would be best.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I suggest you Reason or maybe sonar.

I downloaded a demo of Reason to see how it is. I can't figure out how to hear the songs. I see that everything is playing but no sound. My speakers are on.

Go to the Reason Preferences menu item.

In the Audio section select your sound card.
