Hi i downloaded pro tool 8 from a torrent, when i open it, it says connect your pro tools hardware first.

You need a key phob its basically a usb flash drive you plugin... it prevents people from downloading warez like you just did.

You can get a Key Phob emulator however.

About Pro Tools M-Powered Software

* Pro Tools M-Powered software requires one of the above M-Audio hardware devices, which must be connected to your computer to run Pro Tools M-Powered software
* Pro Tools M-Powered supports the use of any single supported M-Audio peripheral. Simultaneous use of multiple M-Audio peripherals is not supported.
* Other audio interfaces from M-Audio have not been qualified with M-Powered
* Audio interfaces by Digidesign or any manufacturer other than M-Audio will not work with Pro Tools M-Powered software
* Pro Tools M-Powered and Pro Tools LE software allows a maximum of 18 audio inputs and outputs, depending on your audio interface I/O capability

Authorization

* A pre-authorized cross-platform (Mac/Win) red iLok USB hardware key is included with all Pro Tools M-Powered software purchases
* The original Pro Tools M-Powered iLok authorization works with Pro Tools M-Powered 6.8, 7.0, and 7.1.x
* Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 requires a new iLok authorization. Upgrade information is available from the Pro Tools 7.3 Announcement in the News section.

System Software — Mac OS X

* Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 is officially supported on Mac OS X 10.4.8 & 10.4.9 for PowerPC-based and Intel-based Macs
* Pro Tools 7.x will not run on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and earlier

* Large amounts of audio
* High edit density
* Large DigiBase databases
* A large number of installed plug-ins
* Options like DigiTranslator
* Simultaneous use with other applications
* 1.5GB (Mac OS X) or 1GB (Windows XP) total system RAM or more required with Music Production Toolkit option in order to reliably achieve maximum track count (see additional requirements for Music Production Toolkit at the bottom of this page)

Monitor & Graphics

* Minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768
* Dedicated Graphics Controller Required
* 17" or larger monitor recommended if using external monitor

Performance Guidelines

* Recording to the system startup drive is not recommended or supported
* Although limited recording and playback of audio tracks may be possible using the startup drive, one or more separate dedicated audio hard drive(s) is required for maximum performance and track count (7200 rpm or faster)

Known Issues

* Pro Tools does not support RAID technology. Please do not activate this feature on any Pro Tools recording drives.
* USB drives are not recommended or supported for recording
* Pro Tools Does Not Support Sleep Mode
o In the Mac OS X Apple Menu or Applications folder, open System Preferences. Launch Energy Saver, click the Sleep tab, and disable all Sleep features. Set "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive" to Never. Do not manually put your computer to sleep when running Pro Tools.

Music Production Toolkit Options — Maximum Track Count Information
The purchase of this option expands a Pro Tools M-Powered system from 32 total voiceable tracks to up to 48 mono or 48 stereo tracks at up to 96kHz (interface permitting*). In order to reliably achieve maximum track count, Digidesign recommends the following:

* 1.5GB total system RAM or more for Mac OS X systems
* 1GB total system RAM or more for Windows XP systems
* 2 or more qualified hard drives dedicated for audio record and playback

*See your M-Audio Interface manual or the M-Audio website for information on whether or not your M-Audio interface is capable of 96kHz sample rates.
