Hey,

I have a few questions that I hope you can answer for me. I' am aspiring musician and I've been slowly building up my own home recording studio. So far, I have a Tascam US-144 USB interface, a microKorg synth/vocoder, a Simmons SD9K electronic drum set, an Ibanez electric/acoustic guitar, and a Yamaha keyboard. I use (or try to use) Cakewalk Music Studio, Cubase LE 4, and Sony Acid Studio. So, every time I try to use multi-track recording it doesn't work out at all. I record a track with a certain voice on the synth and when I try to record another track with a different voice and play it back, I get both tracks in the latest voice I recorded. I can't play a song back without having all the tracks in the same voice. Extremely frustrating. And sometimes when I use the arpeggiator, the track sounds nothing like what I recorder, it sounds choppy and uneven. So the music that I would like to make is mainly techno/electronica  all within MIDI and maybe even some instrumental later on. But I really need to get this sorted out, its really getting me down. Your help would mean so much to me.

Thanks for your help,

--Laura

Hi Laura
In order to really help you I need to have a few more infos. What kind of MIDI Interface are you using? Also could it be that you have all the tracks set to record and not just the one you want to record on? I am assuming for now that you are not using MIDI and recording everything directly.

As for the arpeggiator sounding choppy I am not sure. Do you have that problem too with normal signals (what kind of computer are you using?)...might be a performance problem. If you are using MIDI it might be that the sync is not setup correctly. If you are recording live audio then you might have a problem with latency...

It might help if you explained how you have everything setup and maybe make a screenshot of your DAW while recording a 2nd track...

Hope this helps a bit...

Hey, thanks for replying,

I' am trying to use MIDI, so , for my MIDI Interface I use my Tascam US-144 http://www.tascam.com/products/us-144.html , my MIDI controller is the mircoKORG http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=128 , and my laptop is an HP http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/store_access.do?template_type=series_detail&category=notebooks&series_name=dv6t_series, and I use Cakewalk Music Creator 4, and sometimes Cubase LE4 (if I get it to work).

-I hope this helps and sorry for not replying right away.
-If you need to know anything else just let me know.
