« A must have! »
Published on 08/13/12 at 06:27Pedal to do everything, which has three main functions:
- That of clean boost
- The overdrive
- That of treble boost
An internal mini switch lets you use the pedal in "true bypass" mode or "buffer" to avoid that the signal diminishes if too much is used chaining effects, and / or the case of using long lengths of cable.
The finish is neat, although I agree with the previous opinion to say that the perceived quality is slightly lower than the pedals "Handwired" of the same brand, but it's still a pedal robust and well finished.
UTILIZATION
Not need any manual, here it is three knobs and basta.
We try 10 minutes, turning in every direction, and we understand very quickly who is doing what:
- The knob "master" manages the signal level
- The knob "boost" varies the saturation
- The knob "treble" manages the level of high frequencies.
Breeze.
SOUND QUALITY
It is the star of my pedal pedalboard. Yet I have had other pedals from the same brand, including versions of "handmade", but if it is certain that each is excellent, none seemed as vital as this one.
Can not find non-musical settings, even putting the knobs in the extreme positions.
Contrary to what is reported in the previous opinion, I have had for me no extraneous noise of any kind reported.
I'll try to summarize: the Ruby Red Booster is a very transparent pedal, which follows closely the sound of the guitar and amp on which we play.
The amount of boost is phenomenal (40 db), all controlled by a knob very linear. By pressing the second knob, the sound twists, and a delicious overdrive very open springs from HP ...
Forget the tight grain of some overdrive "typed", here we are in line with the clear sound of your amp, so if like me you've fallen in love, you'll like! Note that the overdrive can be obtained very couillu if you push the knob "boost" beyond 15 hours ...
And finally, the icing on the cake: the treble boost. I play a Les Paul, and I sometimes need my rhythms are sharp, they emerge from the mix. Well bingo, the solution is in the box. And even forcing the knob "treble", I never get too intrusive treble, giving the famous "bee" in the eardrums.
In short everything is there, all functions can be assayed independently of each other, and everything is deliciously musical genius.
OVERALL OPINION
I use this pedal since not far from one and a half, and I must admit that if it should remain a single pedal to put in front of my amp, it would be this one, all others seem to optional side.
Mad Professor is expensive, and even if the versions "factory" are a little more affordable, it's still not cheap.
But I think it is better to save to buy a very good pedal rather than buy 4 medium.
To conclude, I would say that among the thousands of existing pedals on the market, the Ruby Red Booster is part of the exclusive club of those that can not live without when you have enjoyed, in short a "must have"!
