The Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress is a stereo flanger and filter matrix pedal designed for use with electric guitar.  The pedal is an analog one that is powered by the special Electro Harmonix power supply that comes with it.  It has 1/4 inch connections for input, effect out and clean output.  There is also a switch next to the connections regarding the filter matrix will add some pretty awesome filtering effects to your sound.  It isn't a rackable piece of gear as it is a stomp box.

UTILIZATION

Using the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress is quite easy as it only has three parameters - one for color, one for range, and one for rate.  Even though there are a limited number of parameters, since they are all such extreme parameters you can still get a huge variety of tones from this pedal and when you add in the filter matrix it takes this to a new level.  I never had any problems getting this pedal to do what I wanted it to do and for this reason I never had a need to look at a manual.

SOUND QUALITY

This is definitely one of the better sounding flanger pedals that I have used for a number of reasons.  The first reason is that all of the sounds that you get with this pedal are extremely organic and 'analog' sounding.  The next reason is that it is diverse and you can get all sorts of cool sounds - sometimes I'll get a tone that I didn't even know it was capable of!  I use this pedal for recording usually with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb or Fender Deluxe Reverb and I'm always happy with the flanging and filter tones I get.

OVERALL OPINION

For a variety of reasons I would definitely recommend the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress if you are looking for an awesome flanger pedal.  While this isn't as cheap as the Boss flanger pedals, it will sounds better and is capable of more variety in terms of tone.  The price isn't even all that expensive for an Electro Harmonix pedal of this nature.  This is definitely one of my favorite flanger pedals that is currently on the market.
