« A juicy phaser »
Published on 10/04/14 at 13:42It is an inspiration MXR phaser handmade by the French company MSM workshop. This is the new version, with an aesthetic of beauty. Two knobs: one to control the depth and the other the speed of the swing. There is no battery support. It can be seen as a limit, but not for me because I never use a cell effect modulation.
UTILIZATION
Two knobs to adjust, it can not be simpler.
SOUND QUALITY
The sound is excellent, juicy and plump to perfection with a nice 'vowelling', it's a nice wow. The settings are progressive and it stays clean even at maximum speed. I use it with a Fender Lead II and a Gibson SG Faded. In both cases, the sound is warm, very controlled, very musical with a slight saturation when used on dual microphones. We feel that the construction is good and that the signal is observed.
OVERALL OPINION
Less than 100 euros for a handmade effect and excellent quality, there is nothing to say. Here it is not turned fifty options. There is only one sound, but it's one we hear all a bunch of classical recordings. That's exactly the sound I was looking for and if I lost, I would take the same again. If you are looking for a Phase shifter with many possibilities, it's not the phaser for you, but if you want a MXR Phaser types, one is a choice may be more appropriate than the original as it phaser is warm, rich and musical.
