I use these speakers for 1 year on a Denon amp and a Rega Elex. I bought on eBay used, relying on the reputation of excellence and neutrality Cabasse speakers. My experience is based on listening to several speakers at a friend's audiophiles.
Technical level, these speakers are 100W RMS, 4ohm, 91db/1m/1W with a peak power of 700W. It is therefore rather high-performance speakers (not quite but close). They consist of a dome tweeter cabasse to rigid, and a 21cm woofer, separated 4KHz. These columns are very thick bass reflex not filled with a very high acoustic foam flying.
To begin, I must confess that I love these speakers. They are very neutral, and restore the perfection of good jazz recording, classical music, acoustic music in general. The power of these speakers is impressive, as well as their pulse power: they convey all the dynamics of records given to them. They have the distinction of having a powerful return to the top of the spectrum that gives them a sound airy and makes voices and instruments particularly beautiful and realistic.
These basses are quite low, but, unlike many other speakers that I listened, completely controlled. She never slobbering, always very accurate and faithful to the enregistrment. These may seem low to moderate power, but I find the perfect level: we hear them well with their sharpness, and yet they are not at all tiring. Add to that a sense of clarity and precision in the rest spectrum.
All these points make these speakers very faithful restitutrices of emotion conveyed through music.
They are also major disadvantages to unchecked records: they are extremely demanding about the quality of music they are broadcast. Indeed, the current music that does not have good recording quality will be almost unbearable: the power of the tweeter makes neutral treble approximate downright aggressive.
We also hear all the flaws of mastering and will be at the low side of the plate (usually there will not be enough). Also listen to a radio commercial that uses a host of filters and compressors to make the sound more "groovy" would be unbearable (listen to Radio France will be a joy, however, with the exception of Mov, applying the same filters).
You guessed it, this is not a versatile enclosure. Loyal but demanding, she repeated all the emotion and details of your music, for good or evil. She sulked rather the actual music, unless the production thereof is well controlled (I have some CDs of trip-hop and electronica that pass very well, a little pop as well). It is clear that these speakers are pruned for jazz, classical music, acoustic, instrumental and vocals, it makes it very well.
I'm quite happy with these speakers, except that the bcp of my current recordings can be listened to, prices paid to enjoy a seamless return of all my recordings of acoustic music and some of my recordings current well controlled.
