"6136" model number (White Falcon)
"T" for Bigsby (Tailpiece)
"L" for the varnish of cellulose type (Lacquered)
"TV" indicating that sagit microphones made by Mr TV Jones.
Weight: 4.6 Kg
- First impression:
The look incredible majesty White Falcon:
It is this time in the presence of a 1959 reissue models on which was added a Bigsby B-6 that replaces the famous tailpiece type "Cadillac Tailpiece" that typically found on the Falcon.
- The Head:
Form of course typical of White Falcon.
the logo is horizontal with a small golden plaque stamped "The White Falcon".
The logo and truss rod cover is finished in gold spakle that appear to be, as always, made from the coating drum (Gretsch of course).
The beautiful and popular Grover Imperial still adorn the head of the beautiful: thumleft:.
- Handle:
Maple neck two-piece, ebony fingerboard (648mm) INLAYS half-moons
- The body:
Maple veneer, éclises thickness: 70mm.
Reinforcement "Trestle bracing," Bigsby B-6 and bridge type "Adjustomatic" pinned bridge.
For those who do not yet know the therm "pinned bridge": Just click here a floating bridge (not glued) but it is held in place on the body with two small pins that fit into the base of the bridge . This system is very apreciated guitarists eager to maintain the accuracy of their guitar in all circumstances.
Returning to the bridge, they are chosen a adjustomatic. His 6 screw harmonic gives it more flexibility in setting but it also gives a more contemporary side.
For those who want a more authentic side: bounce:, there is nothing to upgrade to a "Space Control".
The plumage of the beast is finished nitrocellulo, it is slightly yellowed "aged" as they say.
- Binding:
The binding (nets) are of course consistent with the high-end model that always been the Falcon.
Whether on the neck, head, body, etc ... everything is the mutilpli. The slice is gold sparkle and the net itself is white / black / white / black which gives a very successful finish.
When the gills, they also benefited from the edge but with gold sparkle fillets simple white / black.
UTILIZATION
- The electrical part:
The master volume knob is located on the notch and then back down we find the tone knob and volume knob two (one for mic).
To the left of the box are: top selector microphones and below the dial tone (neutral central position).
All this control is of course a good pair ... TV Jones pickups "Classic" has now become essential to find "The Real Gretsch Sound".
SOUNDS
- Sound test:
When the plays without the plug, the Falcon has a full, accurate and balanced. Beyond that, the sound is very nice.
Once connected, it sounds at once vintage spirit. Why is this ... in fact the sound is clear but also a little "dirty", this must be what we call the "growl" that is found on some old Filtertron.
start the test now with:
- Neck pickup with tone switch in the center: a balanced microphone that has a certain color. Roundness in the bass is not ubiquitous making it a microphone used in all circumstances.
- Neck pickup with tone switch to bottom: the medium and add the sound became beautifully dirty "muddy".
- Neck pickup with tone control switch at the top: the position of the filter and flattened which makes ressortire acute lower medium.
- Bridge pickup with the tone switch in the center: It is also colorful, bright and rather matt with still a major presence.
- Bridge pickup with the tone switch to bottom: the gain medium provides a way sonnorité old radio.
- Bridge pickup with the tone switch on top: It overwrites the acute, we obtain a lower midrange sound quite exploitable.
- Micro neck + bridge with the tone switch in the center: its always colorful and crunchy.
- Micro neck + bridge with the tone switch to bottom: the acute fréquenses appear and there is a vintage well.
- Neck + bridge with Micro switch in tone hautre: Adds the lower midrange and the attack of the note is as compressed.
Certainly the Gretsch with TV Jones of origin are able, thanks to the configuration of microphones Selector / selector dial tone to offer a wide range of sound.
I had the opportunity to try several Gretsch with TV Jones and I note they provide a more clearly but, as at the time the grain of these microphones is variable from one guitar to another that that there will always be more magical guitars than others.
OVERALL OPINION
In conclusion, this model is very successful, a beautiful White Falcon features a Bigsby to bring happiness to everyone.
The varnish nitrocellulo "aged" (slightly ivory) adds a side even more authentic and vintage subject: thumleft:.
This small test Gretsch binds me and of course that is only based on my own impressions.
thank you for reading.
