I purchased the Washburn Oscar Schmidt OE40 sunburst model back in the late 90s when it was first introduced based on the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, it was noisy right out of the box (hum, etc..) and required rewiring the pickups and controls with decent shielded cable. Once that was done, it was great. It came right out of the box very well setup and I can't really remember doing much to it. I use light gauge strings. It is one of those guitars that plays itself, light touch, beautiful sound. I really like it. I have played through dozens of amps and it always sounds great. On the downside, it is a big and heavy guitar. You need a wide guitar strap to play with it. I've had it for about 20 years and it has held up very well and looks like the day I bought it. I would buy another one in an instance if this one got lost or stolen.
