- What characteristics have motivated your choice?
8 entries analos, many outputs analos, 24/96, port IO noon. Exactly what I was looking for. Side "coupling" to bring up to 4 cards (to switch to 32 tracks) is very interesting for one day expand the system without starting from scratch.
I do not use the coax SPDIF inputs, but that will come one day!
- For what purpose?
Multitrack studio recordings + some MIDI instruments (drum machines mainly).
- What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard ,...)?
Standart PC. CPU P4 2GHz, 512MB Ram, 120GB HDD.
- Which instruments or the systems do you use? ...
Use analog outputs transplanting table mix.
I would add also that in relation to SB 128 that I had before, the day was against the dark winter! No particular breath, good definitions, nothing to say!
UTILIZATION
- The installation is done it without problems?
Back from my little merchant info in less than 10 minutes, no worries.
- Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
No. I did not even use the supplied CD, I was searching for the latest driver on the manufacturer's website (say it: very well done, this site!)
Note also that the card asked me some problems with Windaube, since I replaced a SB (Map more multimedia sound card), so the operating system does not seem to manage multi-voice cards, notament recording. After a system crash, I reinstalled everything, and finally it worked. We must therefore think well erase all traces of the old card!
- The general configuration is easy?
The ASIO driver is exteme stable, absolutely no problems. The routing is done via the window of the driver, the management options are very interesting voice! over the top: the ability to save the configs of the map based applications, like this, you do not lose time to check boxes, one recalls the config we want is all the worse!
- The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
I did not open yet, but it's me, that ... I opened a big hand in case of severe failure ...
GETTING STARTED
- The drivers are stable?
Ca, yes! extremely stable! never had any problems!
- Are they often updated?
Apparently yes, but why do updates on a stable system?? I do not change a winning team. If I ever have a problem, then yes, I will do an update.
- What software do you use most often?
Cubase SX. Excellent compatibility, except perhaps setting the audio resolution: it must indicate either own the software and driver asio asio the configs, otherwise it looks funny surprises!
- What you get lag?
I think the latency is mostly a problem for those who would use their PC processing system live. Me, I do not care as long as you do not exceed 0.5 sec. I care that the syncro recording / playback and midi (nothing to say on this side for that matter).
- How many tracks you get to record / play time? ...
I think the most I did was read 16-track recording 8 +. nothing has parru shocking. Do I remember, I use this card mainly for its A / DD / A.
OVERALL OPINION
- How long have you use it?
That one year that I have (almost).
- What is so special that you like most and least?
The best: the transparency of the driver (he is only there to turn the map, it asks nothing else, what it does very well), and the quality of the converters (value for money at top !).
The Cons: bah connectors: 8cm cable and insufficient identification of CAR. Would have had to buy the rack version, but it exceeded my budjet and I'm not sure that the cable between the rack and the card would have been long enough. So I bought two multicore connectors to extend the map and yay, no need to contortionist in spaghetti for a change.
- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
No, I spent a week searching the net to see what qu'ilexistait, I find that for a mid-range, the m-audio is very good!
- How would you rate the quality / price?
I paid 300 euros, and it gives me satisfaction (I know, I could pay less, but I want to kill the small business computer sites via mail order
). In a word: I am very very happy!
