OVERALL OPINION
I was curious to see the results compared to a Neumann U87.
I purchased because I thought neumann was a fair bit of very serious voice. Preamps I are Focusrite Liquid chanel beautiful and I load different preamps and compressors, it did not change.
So comes the VM1 brauwner. The assembly is somewhat difficult for the anti-pop filte shaped cylindrical lampshade. In addition, a microphone placed aside, we are left with an amount in full before the filter: should tweak.
And go. The rendering is very neutral and I seemed a little pushed into the medium compared to neumann. Preamps and compressors are loaded Manley and the voice of the narrator is a very light but little push, almost whispered voice. Not any less wheezing and pop (micro shifted slightly to the right.
And a word, superb microphone that deserves its reputation.
A small problem: at this price point, the doc is entirely in German (I bought cheap Thomann) and their website (Brauwner) bug on the doc in English.
They could make a little effort.
