I have spent the past 14 years "tinkering" with guitars. By "tinkering" I mean that I never took any formal lessons and would just pick up things here and there to play. 1 year ago I decided to get serious about learning and playing so I decided to buy my first NEW electric guitar. As soon as I entered the store I spotted my baby amongst a wall of other ax's. Transluscent black with white binding and black hardware. I pulled it off the wall and plugged it in and played what little I knew. It sounded amazing and played like it was made just for me.

To be fair, I played a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Fender Strat, and a handful of Ibanez, Washburn, and Jackson guitars. None could compare to the Epiphone for the overall package.

It originally came with a clear plastic pick guard. Epiphone sells replacements, but when I looked for one I found them all a little cheesy looking. I talked the salesman into giving me one off of a Gibson LP that was being returned for damage. I had to trim it a little with an Xacto knife, but once I got it on there it looked great.

I read and hear alot of complaints about the weight, although it is a little heftier than some other guitars, I find the weight comfortable.

The only construction defaults I have found are three small dimples in the finish, but you really have to look to find them.

If you are considering buying an Epiphone Lp, BEWARE OF GREEN TUNING PEGS.
Also, you should invest in a Quick Lok guitar strap system as the stock strap pegs on the Epiphones tend to be a little smaller than the norm.

My Epiphone Les Paul is perfect. Great sound, smooth playability, versatile, great looking and affordable. I have yet to find a sound I can't get with my Epiphone and it holds a tuning like you would not believe. It makes playing and learning fun. I get alot of compliments on it.
