Well then I'll start too ... I think of my old Les Paul, I've had 99, so 5 years, 1.5 more than my girlfriend, and both have proven to be excellent investments:-P

United States standard, frets? I have not counted, standard microphones (490 498) for years, recently seymour duncan (see below), and finally good, all standard ...

I'm a fan of the 2 tones 2 volumes configuration is very practical in live, and the switch is positioned (better than a SG) so I have no complaints and I put 9 because you can always improve , and that's what I did.

UTILIZATION

The handle is very nice, but I think a stick 'stripped' to Zakk Wylde (like on a fender) slip better. The hand tends to stick to the lacquer is a matter of preference I suppose, but I prefer the fenders for that.
access to the latest sharp is not easy, but for me it's enough. the large joint of the handle allows much stalling his hand around the 12th box, and then the form can be located and know where you are without looking at the handle. SG on I'm a little lost.
Unlike everyone else I can not find the weight hallucinating. I'm not a lumberjack in Canada, and never, ever had back pain, even after four hours of repeats. I play basically standing at home too, no problem. You just position the guitar a Les Paul is not played like a Start! It must be hung much lower, at the Jimmy Page, and the weight does absolutely no discomfort. From the handle to the rear, and the body heavy enough that the guitar is recovering more than a strata, which makes it very easy to play in that position. Comfort!
Now if you want to look like a Beatles or Tom Morello you go to shit. Especially when you throw bottles because you'll look ridiculous.

Do you get a good sound easy? ... What question con is not a multi-effects!

SOUNDS

Then the sounds ...
First you can not do everything with a Les Paul. Like you can not do everything with a Start. It remains true to itself.
Before buying this guitar I had a copy of strata, so I was a little confused because the two sounds are very different. There before me, a guy who said he feels that the little E string does not ring, CA is that the mediums are placed differently than on Start. You get used to any type of guitar, and now, if I play on Fender, I am shocked by the brilliance, the sound seems to me too late and aggressive. On stage, there is less chance that a Gibson out of place in the mix and hurt the ears.

Matter of taste, therefore, even now I regret the side fender to the chords (the clean). The Les Paul is not really made for that. Where it is strong, it's for the arpeggios on the micro serious. This mic gives a thickness to the sound that can play beautiful arpeggios, which would sound ridiculous on fender. The microphone is acute against the king of distortion and solos on that, nothing new to say.

It is very interesting to see how a skyscraper can influence the style of play, depending on what sounds good on it or not. Me the microphone made me develop a serious set of arpeggios to Jeff Buckley. For others it will be interminable bends to the solos ... The Les Paul, like all great guitars, has a specialty, that's why we bought it.

The question of the amp is also interesting. It is often said that Fender amps are made for Fender guitars, and it is true that the LP does not sound at all on a hot rod deluxe fender or the transistor that I know, for my taste. For it is against magnificent Twin Reverb, who knows. I am not a specialist in Marshall, Mesa Boogie on the other hand of it is perfect, the heat of the Les Paul offsets the slightly "metallic" mesas. Personally I recommend the very old mesas (Mark I, II) or a twin reverb, but that's because I like beautiful cleans and reverb.

Finally, I change my scratch by installing two Seymour Duncan Jazz and JB in severe acute. The difference with the pickups of origin is significant. However, beware of snobs who say that Gibson pickups are zero, I do not agree at all. On the contrary I think they have a strong personality, and now my guitar sounds less like a Les Paul. Differences: the SD are open, so you lose the sound a little metallic envelopes given by the microphones closed. We like it or not. I find this gloss on the mic is pretty sharp, but it may be too aggressive. Overall the SD are more balanced, no dominant frequency that can hurt, but also give some personality to the sound. Jazz has little low, before I had to lower the bass on my amp, and when I went to the microphone the sound was too sharp end. The sound of the guitar as a whole is more balanced. In summary, the microphones are very specific origins: full of sharp treble on the mic, full of serious to the serious. A combination that has its flaws, but I regret a little.

I also installed push-pull microphones to play simple, it can be useful in the studio, but it's not really the best sound of a Les Paul.

Of its kind, the best available. So I put 10.

OVERALL OPINION

A beautiful guitar in the comfort of game very addictive, and very strong personality. This is a guitar a lot and always engaging, and it is difficult then to move on to another. Many enthusiasts collect the Les Paul is well known. I guess it's the same stratum.
His personality has influenced my style of play, it must be a good thing, in any case it shows that we must think carefully before buying that you want to play. What I like most: the bass.
Value for money: of course not justified. I bought new for 10,000 bales, ca was still at the time, but now the price is really too high. My advice: buy an SG, which, for obscure marketing reasons, has remained affordable. That's what I'll do.

I put 10 for the guitar, the marketing does not interest me.
