I enjoyed a trip to Amsterdam to pay me this guitar:

Guitar type LP, with classic features of this type of guitar:
- Mahogany
- Corps Acajou (2 or 3 parts, like its competitors)
- Table with maple leaf maple flamed for finishing (same C77, SR ...)
- TOM
- Stick thin profile (see very end)
- How Kluson tuning mechanisms
- Pickups Vintage made in England.

It is a bit thinner than a Gibson

In short, what an LP;)
For the price, it's just perfect.


UTILIZATION

Channel super nice, ergonomic top (the guitar is well balanced in a sitting position).
The heel is discreet and a scroll takes place under the saddle, a pledge of comfort and strength.

Mechanisms are of excellent quality, the guitar is the tuning no matter what.

Like its competitors, finishing is not free from reproach, some traces of the file are visible on the binding of the handle, the junction of two pieces of mahogany on the neck is a bit surprising considering that the woods are veining a little different (not charged in the same plate).
The body of mine is in two parts, a small (5 cm at most).
I saw in the store with a corps of three parts.

Besides this, the varnish is just perfect, well-posed bindings, inlays on the head very well done. Aesthetically, the guitar is almost the comparison with a Gibson (not the back, the neck of the Gibson is a part).
Waves on the table are clearly visible (not like picture) and emerge well with the brightness.

The guitar was just the set up properly done, no frieze ... The frets properly installed.

Again, for 400 € is very surprising:)

SOUNDS

Compared with a Gibson LP Standard 96 with a buddy and PRS Mc Carty (American, therefore, to me).

The pickups are excellent. They have a lower output level and a relatively grain vintage. They sound a bit like the Slash signature: a lot of harmonics, quite precise, very hot.
For the same setting on the amp (JCM 2000 Marshall), the sound with the PRS sound modern while TSB produce a more focused Plexi.
Really nice! A sound identity although she has what.

A change in microphone does not prevail absolutely.

Again, for 400 €, it's all good!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for some months now.
I have a PRS McCarty, a Stratocaster classic player 60, a Gibson Explorer, a plexi LP and other grat home made as a telecaster swamp ash in (I am an amateur luthier).

The price / quality ratio is unbeatable, I said it.

In comparison to its competitors:

- Tokai is the most faithful replica (head open book), but it pays 3 times the price
- The C77 has the same characteristics, but the look has nothing to do with the original LP (horn, ugly head). Moreover, it is difficult to try before you buy (what I could do with the Tanglewood).
- The SR Guitars: mine is located between the origin and luxury range. She is 50 € cheaper than origin and 150 less than a luxury. In addition, the chosen color (Tea Burst) is available in deluxe version.
And once again, it is difficult to try before you buy SR guitars (although it manages little by little).
The guitars do not have the SR Mecas Kluson which I am attached.

In short, for me the choice was simple.
A guitar that will hurt if Tanglewood keeps its prices and its distribution network.
I would do this choice without hesitation. It is absolutely ridiculous next to my PRS to 3,000 €, and has its own sonic identity. And then there it is: I have my Les Paul! : D
