Good day. Setup:
2 x JBL Partybox
JBL Partybox mic with wireless connectivity using the compatible a receiver plugged into the JBL PartyBox or laptop via a music interface
Windows 10 laptop
MAudio 192/4 interface connected to the laptop via USB-C (where the JBL receiver is now plugged into, for reasons stated below). Using the latest MAudio and Windows drivers
Issue:
During usage, if the JBL mic is not used for 10 or 15 minutes, the JBL mic receiver unit switches off. As the receiver unit is plugged INTO the JBL PartyBox, it requires walking up to the PartyBox and switching it on again. JBL confirmed this is not a configurable option (the auto switch-off time).
I thus decided to make use of a M-Audio 192/4 interface, then plugging the JBL mic receiver INTO the audio interface, connected to a laptop. At least, then the laptop / music operator streaming the music from the laptop via bluetooth to the PartyBox setup, can quickly switch-on the JBL mic receiver if/when it auto switches off (instead of walking up to the PartyBox if the mic receiver was plugged into the PartyBox).
Unfortunately, due to Windows and setup practicalities) the mic-sound has a buffer / delay of less than a second but still very obvious using the above work-around for live mic sound streaming.
ANY OBVIOUS WAYS I could improve the delay in the sound from the mic. Streaming music to the JBL PartyBoxs (in TWS mode) is real-time and not delayed - the bluetooth streaming is optimised, it is just the mic sound that is delayed (being routed for the mic, to the receiver, into the music interface into the laptop being streamed to the PartyBox.
IF YOU WANNA READ SOME MORE:
As an FYI, recording the mic from the music interface onto the laptop is working as expected and monitoring the sound from the music interface headphone is also fine and real-time.
The issue seems to be streaming the mic input / sound via the music interface that causes the delay.
Any assistance / guidance will be appreciated, thanks.
FYI: I am trying to cut-away from cords and cables running from the operating booth to the speakers, hence the setup (The stage light setup follows the same principle with (remote) Beamz tranceivers from the DMX desk to the first light on-stage, no cables running on the ground ).
It works brilliantly and declutters setup and installation plenty-much, but the mic switching off and causing a walk to the speaker to switch it on again is counter intuitive, and now the mic delay with the work around noted above.
