The Octacontrol is described as an « 8 point MIDI Transmuter » capable of controlling any MIDI hardware or software to create complex sounds.
Octacontrol sends 8 MIDI CC, each assigned to a coordinate on an XY map. Each axis can be controlled either manually by using the X and Y sliders, or via dedicated LFOs. Each LFO features 9 waveforms that can be modified via a Bias slider.
A Radar XY Monitor tool allows for visualizing the position on the map and when the Riser engine is engaged, this radar serves as reference for the pitch bend position. This Riser engine allows for creating ascending or descending movements by sending Pitch Bend MIDI messages which action range has to be defined.
Octacontrol features two main groups of controls: Sources with controls mapped to the corners of the XY map and Transitions with controls mapped to the cardinal points.
Octacontrol requires the full version of Reaktor 5.9 and later. It is available for $29 at www.epicsoundlab.com.
