« Expensive solution, but without compromise. »
Published on 01/28/11 at 14:40Windscreen with silicone tip (or equivalent) ranging from 20 to 25mm. The 22mm model is adaptable to most condenser microphones on the market.
Cage windproof lighter but a bit bulky, easily removable, and robust.
OVERALL OPINION
I use extensively outdoors, with microphones as the AT8022, Neumann KM 184 or Schoeps MK4, accompanied by a suspension and a INV7 foam handle or pole RYCOTE in short, solution "gun" that is not afraid of vibration and other handling noise.
Winds means is royal, nothing reaches the microphone. I tried softie kits, the bearskin at Rode Rycote or, what solutions are very practical, inexpensive, but effective enough to catch outdoor hectic.
120 euros is pretty expensive for a windscreen, but like any product RYCOTE is assembled to last, the more it adapts to a large number of microphones "stars" of the broadcast market, so I have no concern over its lifetime.
I do it again this election easily, and I choose now to all RYCOTE accessories microphones "field".
