MGR/Scort the Nort
« B.C. Rich Mockingbird Bronze Series »
Published on 08/22/04 at 15:00I bought this guitar when I accompanied a buddy to buy a bass at Guitar Center in Memphis. If you can window shop a guitar of this quality then you know the price is right. Only $169.99. I almost pee'd myself. I had no intention of buying, but when I saw it,,,,,dude it made me buy it.
The price was what I initially liked, obviously, but around six seconds after I started playing it, I knew I'd made a helluva score here. With my Ibanez tube driver to accompany us on our journey my sound has been sculpted anew. It looks sick as well, nice curving contours in a sleek transparent type black. It has a definite "metal" type vibe as far as looks go. Kinda like an SG had sex with an Explorer and poof...out popped the Mock.
Nothing at all....well O.K. there is one little thing..the frets(from about 19 up) are a liitle smaller than those on my Kramer or Ibanez but that's a small price to pay for the overall value the guitar offers.
The guitar was built up to snuff. Aside from an unpleasant action setting(probably an in store doodler or employee) which i fixed immediately, the construction is solid. The quality of the sound is what I was really overly pleased with. Like I mentioned before, with the help of the Tube KIng and my 65W crate my metal just gained about 1000 lbs. The crunch will not stop.
This is the cheapest guitar I've ever purchased, and probably my fave, considering the price. Those stock pick-ups BC Rich uses in the package really work well for me. If you are new to axiology or if you are a vet with an extra $150, throw down the cash and pick this sucker up today. YOU WILL LOVE THIS PIECE!!!(it may even have the ability to manipulate human thoughts, someone else will have to decide)
