Fernandes Nomad Deluxe

I played this guitar for a good hour and a half at Rudy's Music in Manhattan, which was selling it for $400. I had been investigating travel guitars.

Built-in amp and effects processor means this is the only guitar you can lug around easily and still have it sound like an electric guitar. I own two micro amps and these can never get a convincing rhythm or distortion sound, and they never respond well to effects pedals. The Nomad Deluxe is also small enough to carry with ease.

Having the pickup and amp so close together meant that I had to deal with feedback the entire time I played it. The neck feels awkward, and I couldn't find a good position for playing the guitar either...…

Having the pickup and amp so close together meant that I had to deal with feedback the entire time I played it. The neck feels awkward, and I couldn't find a good position for playing the guitar either standing up (the body's too small; no support for the arms) or sitting down (awkward shape; you have to hunch).

Good, though the shape of the guitar is ill-considered.

If you want a truly portable electric guitar that can actually generate an array of sounds, the Nomad Deluxe (and its cheapter cousin, the Nomad) was the only example I could find. The Steinberger GU and GT series, while better guitars, still need an amp and cable. The Nomad Deluxe doesn't.

I purchased this guitar at http://www.guitarshop.net, an online guitar store. The reason why I acquired this unit is because I was in search of an electric guitar, that was affordable, and one that came with an amplifier and the Fernandez Nomad has one built right in. I only paid $259.00 for this unit.

This unit, is wonderful for a first time user. It name, the "Nomad" perfectly suits itself becuase it is truly the ultimate traveling guitar. It comes with a great hardwood body, with a depth aproximatly 2 1/8" (great for all hand sizes. This neck is a a bolt on by one graphite nut and has a 24" scale length. The fingerboard is made of beautiful rosewood with 22 medium narrow frets. The humbucker pickupsis a high-output and it sure packs a punch, for the price. This guitar comes with wonderful controls including an easy twist volume dial, crystal clear LED(to show the effects, tuner and other wonderful accecories), and a small mini-switch that is out of the way of all playing. The hardware is more then acceptable with chrome tuners, and a chrome fixed bridge.

Some added features that top this guitar of are its self contained 5-Watt amplifier with a high-tech looking 3 1/2' speaker that will blow you away with its tremendous sound and terrific range. The package with include a protective soft case and a rear-mounted 9-volt battery compartment, to allow you to play wireless in front of all of your friends. The Nomad has an incredible design that will leave all guitar fanatics as well as people who have not held a guitar in their life in awe. Some other features that are especially beneficial are its built in chromatic guitar tuner, headphone jack and its DigiTech “Audio DNA” effects processor. This DigiTech “Audio DNA” effects processor combines a variety of a studio full of modern and vintage amp models with full featured studio quality effects. There are 25 remarkable effects to select from, and all 25 are programmable to your liking as an artist. You can choose from 25 different effects one at a time or up to 10 available effects at once. The effects interface is so easy to use, you hardly even need to read the directions to figure it out and once you have figured it out then you can make it suit your playing and improve your playing with its rhythm timer as well as just playing for fun. This guitar also comes with 40 factory presets and 40 more customizable presets. This guitar also allows you to upgrade to a larger amplifier with an output jack and to quickly move through the effects it also have an effects pedal jack. The Fernandez Nomad is great for the beginner as well as the experienced music writer, and should be experienced by all.

This unit is all in all a pretty solid instrument, although the power on and off switch can come loose, as well as the volume dial. The buttons sometimes stick which can cause a bit of annoyance at times. The amplifier that comes with the guitar is great for a learner but if you want to play on stage this amplifier will not do it for you, you must upgrade for the purpose of the output of sound only. Finally the biggest dislike that may be found within this guitar is the power cored. It is short, flimsy and can easily fall out of either the wall socket or the guitar socket and when using the battery, you must often change the battery depending how often you use the guitar.

The construction is made up of a great hardwood body, with a depth aproximatly 2 1/8" (great for all hand sizes. This neck is a a bolt on by one graphite nut and has a 24" scale length. The quality of this unit on a scale of 1-5 (5 being this best) is a 4 closer to a 3 then a 5. The body is solid, and for the most part all the hardware is chrome but the parts can be come loose and cause problems over time. All in all this guitar will hold up to most abuse and that is why it is great for children as well as the travelling older player.

The Fernandez is a wonderful guitar. Its professional sound and compact size makes it a great choice for all users and a wonderful tool to use when travelling and writing music. If you are looking for a cheap grab with exceptional results this is a great pick.

online for 300.00

everything

the little speaker sounds a little tinny

solid construction and easy action

Though the little speaker sounds tinny to me just plug this little baby into an amp and watch out, this little pig can really belt out the sound.

UTILIZATION

◦ The handle is it nice?
The neck is fast and very well set with strings very close without curling
◦ Access to acute (last string) Is it easy?
Yes
◦ Ergonomics is it good (in terms of shape, weight ...)?
The guitar has a tendency to dive when you play standing but the ergo cut knee when playing sitting is perfect. To play up, it must relocate the fastener strap
◦ Gets it easy to sound good? ...
There are a plethora of plant which 40 are amazing

I would say it does exactly what it is intended. Only the HP integrated fishing somewhat but it is only there to play for 'test' so 9

SOUNDS

◦ they suitable for your style of music?
Easy, we can do almost everything ... Let us not forget that I take this guitar to travel or to make a comic effect onstage playing the ZZ TOP ...
◦ With what (s) amplifier (s) or effect (s) do you play?
I play on live sound
◦ What kind of sound you get and with what settings ("crystalline", "fat ",....)?
All types of sounds
◦ What are the sounds you prefer, you hate
I love the overdrive RP1 is integrated perfectly with the humbucker

It has everything that is given in the specifications with this guitar so 9, again for the HP a bit light ...

OVERALL OPINION

◦ For how long have you been using it?
For a year, bought from OCCAZ (very hard to find)
◦ What thing do you like most/least about it?
I love its look and its versatility and fashion 'holiday'
I do not like his balance when playing standing (mostly camping or beach cafe mode with my son on drums yamaha DD behind and who laughs when the guitar solos on the grave)
◦ Did you try many other models before getting this one?
A travel guitar and a T-bone but the prices were great and we had to add a pandora ... The look was not there either.
◦ What is your opinion about the value for the price?
Excellent price when I touched it ... In addition I have a hard case ..
◦ Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...
Oh yes because I love it and the effect on the crowd is always a delight.
