Value For Money :
Excellent
For specifications, simply go to the website of Moog Music.
It is presented as a stombox VCO features a Moog and it is equipped with a stombox Moog VCO ... and the connectivity of PLETOR common to all MoggerFooggers.
But this is not it ...
UTILIZATION
Personally I am not a guitarist. I'm more oriented keyboards. So the connections so Moog does not bother me.
For a guitarist that is not complicated by the fact that everything is written on it.
The English manual is understandable and relatively well done.
As for the editing of this effect is not very complicated either, turn the knobs to get the desired effect.
And as always in Moogerfoogers, each knob / button is assigned a single function.
It's analog, so no hidden menu, but in no backup preset.
The apparent simplicity can, against confusing one who is not accustomed to the equipment Moog. Take the time to look to find ...
SOUND QUALITY
I did not take the MF-107 into an effects pedal, but to add a fourth VCO to my Voyager XL.
I do not judge its effectiveness as an effects pedal.
Some will tell me that three VCOs is good enough .. yes but why deprive yourself of good put more when you can. After all, it is marked in textbooks Moog: "Do not hesitate to experiment."
In this case the experience is more than conclusive. When I took the Minimax (software and hardware emulation of the Minimoog D) I was surprised by the resemblance. But without finding the grain of MiniMoog D.
When I had the Minimoog Voyager XL, I was more than happy ... but I still lacked a little something or other. The Voyager sounds good, but it seems too controlled.
Here, we plug the 4th VCO (page 23 of the manual, the keyboard pitch on frequency of mf-107, and osc out of mf-107 in ext audio in the Voyager) is the rule and we detune ... And D MiniMoog wakes ...
Moog warns in its manual for the MF-107, the VCO of FreqBox is not quite the same as the Voyagers, it is less precise, less controlled.
And precisely this is what makes this pedal a "must-have" for owners of Voyager. By adjusting the frequency and gently envelope Amount of MF-107 is awakened the monster.
Certainly in the acute tilt wins sometimes. On FX, percussion and others it has little interest (at least in the current state of my tests), but the Lead or Bass is a treat.
The MF-107 is not limited to this. Using all the possibilities offered by its connections can be drawn much more likely. But just for this revival of the spirit Moog it's worth it.
OVERALL OPINION
I did that this morning, but I already know that if I were to keep only one pedal that would be it.
Its price may be a bit high in absolute terms, but hey Moog nothing is really cheap. And personally I do not regret having purchased.
I do not know if in other uses such enthusiasm it deserves. But hey, while we celebrate the 40th anniversary of D Minimoog, the MF-107 will reconcile the Fans of "Moog's original" with the Voyager.
