Native Instruments launches Drum Lab

Native Instruments released today Drum Lab, a new acoustic and electronic drum library for Kontakt.

Drum Lab is designed as a “Laboratory” and allows you to combine various acoustic and electronic drum elements to create your own custom kits. You can choose between 58 acoustic instruments, all played by professional drummer Derico Watson and recorded in three different spaces using vintage and modern gear.

Drum Lab offers an advanced layering technique with 80 modern and classic drum machines to choose from, all being phase aligned and using fades. They will be combined to the acoustic samples to create those custom kits. A slider allows for mixing the different layers.

A custom Kit for Kontakt (NKI) features a kick (9 variations), a snare (10 variations), 3 toms (6 variations), hi-hats (7 variations) a ride cymbal (2 variations), two crash cymbals (4 variations) and 5 percussions to choose between the 20 available.

The library also features an effect chain with a drum compressor, the Transient Master, Solid EQ, Solid Bus Comp and a convolution reverb

Last, you’ll find more than 900 drum fills and patterns (90 grooves with 10 variations each) for different styles and genres.

In total, Drum Lab offers 26 500 samples and weighs 5.26Go (uncompressed). It is compatible with Maschine, Kontakt 5 and the free Kontakt 5 Player.

It is available for 99€ and you can listen to a demo at www.native-instruments.com.
