Korg CX3

Same characteristics as the Hammond B3, namely:
- Chorus / Vibrato with adjustable thumbwheel C1, 2, 3, V1, 2, 3.
- Percussion: Soft / Normal, Fast / Slow, 2nd/3rd
- A 5-octave keyboard
- Ability to edit the presets with 8 banks of 8 presets or 64 presets in all. In publishing, it is possible to set the type of leslie, vitese the rotors, the old sound of the organ, reverb, etc. ...
- 2 sets of 9 drawbars
- A Toy Leslie
- There is also possibility of pedals that can agnigner for volume / exprission, trigger the slow or fast leslie, and even trigger the percussion, chorus / vibrato.
The keyboard is not very bulky, the trick is finding the proper amp.

UTILIZATION

The configuration is not very simple, it took me a while to understand everything before. I even have to refer to the manual, which hardly ever with a musical instrument.
Anyway, once one has grasped the operation of its Banks and usefulness of all the settings, just find a good set of pull and go! : P
With a switch to accelerate the Leslie and an expression pedal, it's perfect!

SOUNDS

The sounds are very similar to the real Hammond B3.
We recover the characteristic sound of the drive wheels, and the heat generated by Leslie. The chorus / vibrato does not take the lead, percussion are property and adjustable to fine-tune the reverb also.
Touch is well reproduced, if somewhat too "bouncy", but there are even able to adjust the triggering of a note on the sinking of the keys: D

OVERALL OPINION

I month, and really, I do not get enough!
This is a fairly successful clone of B-3, but do not fall into the trap, nothing is able to imitate the sound of the legendary B-3.

So it is a clone of Hammond as his alure indicates. 5 octave keyboard is really soft and spongy type Hammond, glissandos are a real rgal. The rponse is really good. TOC is the trio MIDI connections, a socket for the supplied expression pedals, two inputs for footswitch, Stereo output and must be all ... ah if a headphone jack on the front!
Otherwise the sounds they can not cover all styles of prs slow the sweetest rack and sulfur in the most furious Jon Lord! All is well on ditable in real time with two sets of nine drawbars for each keyboard part. The polyphony is total and Korg has provided an update of the OS that bring some changes which I will later.

UTILIZATION

Everything is arranged like a B-3 (or similar) then any port hand wheel Vibrato / Chorus really convenient. The manual, although I think can usefully correct.

SOUNDS

Playing a lot of jazz / rock / blues sound that is kind of did what I wanted. The sounds are quite ralistes in all though a bit "lctroniques" for the very first version of the OS which does amlior in version 2. This version adds a new reverb, a speaker simulator, two speeds for the wheel brake, and the possibility of lowering the outbreak of the key to a more or less rapid rponse. The sounds are generally round and fairly original Fidler.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year and a half and I am fully satisfied, especially since I put the OS 2, I feel like another instrument under your fingers ... What I like about this instrument is touch and sound round, what I like least is its distortion can be a bit garish and 17 kgs. In the era I had the choice between the Vk-7 Roland sonait lctronique too cold and my taste, the Hammond XK-2 far too expensive for me, the XB-1 Hammond always identical the XK-2 without the wood finish and keyboard synth not top. I chose the CX-3. I find the quality price ratio trs interresting for the type of instrument. Now if I had the choice again I would do even if probably a robin appeared, the Nord Electro, but I do not like the concept of zippers diodes.

Keyboard 61 keys, like Waterfall. Ragit of Manir trs fast. No pitch-bend, no sustain. It is an organ, not a synth with a sound like an organ about.
At the rear there is the traditional trio noon, Stereo output, an input for an expression pedals, and two others for switches. Not bad. In my humble opinion it lacks an outlet for a Leslie cabinet.
The sounds of origins are not really usable, but if we start mode "manual" is the bte rveille immediately ... In EX mode, the two sets of Drawbars can be used, opening of new sonic possibilities. The polyphony is total.

UTILIZATION

Trs trs simple to use. In "manual", it pulls the RULES as one DSIR, and the sound is formed. The possibilities are standards, and worth looking a little ...
There is still the possibility to edit dtail in the positions of microphones from the leslie simulation, the type of amp, the acclration, type of wheels (clean - vintage), and s has quickly become complex. But I find it nice that the possibility of changing these parameters is l.

SOUNDS

I do not compare a CX-3 with a real Hammond C-3 or B-3, or M100 or other models tonewheel prampli and lamps. It is a formulation certainly well damn, that sounds clean (too clean at times) but also acknowledges its limitations. By connecting a vritable Leslie cabinet is a different story dj. You can live the Doppler effect in all its plnitude. Although the Leslie simulation is by no means bad, there's always a sense of flatness, a lack of structure in depth. The effect carrment overdrive is bad. It is cold and digital trs.
In short, used with a Leslie, or another firm (Elka, Dynacord, Motion Sound) is a good alternative to a laptop vritable Hammond organ that does not hide. But used alone, even when the sound is a bit lightweight compared his MODEL. But this applies to almost any formulation ...

OVERALL OPINION

As said before, for someone who has not 4 roadies to transport 120 kilograms of a M100 and a further 70 kilos vritable Leslie is an excellent alternative portable (18 kg) with a more as correct. Operation is simple and efficient trs trs. The Leslie simulation is good, only the overdrive is really below the expectation. But it's something that can change with a good or a firm prampli Motion Sound.
The report is lev qualitprix when we see how the rating formulations computer. But hey, we reoit a beautiful wooden furniture vritable, with beautiful white keys-crme (Waterfall) and 2 sets of Drawbars ... it's 1000x better than a mouse and keyboard Edirol; -)
