«  Good Tube Screamer / clean boost »

Published on 08/08/14 at 11:31
It is a clone of Klon: good overdrive "Tube Screamer low gain", crunchy, dynamic, hot: besides it's well above a TS9 / Ibanez TS808, and with less gain.
It features a true-bypass mode. I prefer it to any Ibanez TS, modified or not, the value for money is excellent !!!

Nevertheless attention contrary to the indication the manufacturer: it is not transparent at all, besides the manual says, when the gain is increased beyond 8 hours, crunch, the mids are boosted (I speak no sound distortion even, I mean slight crunch).

UTILIZATION

Tube Screamer type config: volume / tone / gain.

Good tonal range with the gain below 9 o'clock. In addition it is more confusing, unclear, as TS.

SOUND QUALITY

It's just like a tube screamer: Full mediums !!, it eats serious dice that exceeds 9H gain and it also eats the dice acute that exceeds 11H.
That said, it is quite clear with the gain at zero: beyond is lost fairly quickly spectrum.

OVERALL OPINION

As clean-booster that can do it, (but not as well as OCD, which logically costing almost 3 times the price of Soul Food).
The Fulltone OCD is much more transparent and dynamic, as well as Tech21 GT2 (in "California / Clean / Off Axis / Bass15H / Treble15H").
